People who ask confidently get more than those who are hesitant and uncertain. When you’ve figured out what you want to ask for, do it with certainty, boldness and confidence. Don’t be shy or feel intimidated by the experience. You may face some unexpected criticism, but be prepared for it with confidence.
One of the great experiences I had that week in California was spending time with Jack Canfield and attending the private poolside reception and party. In addition, I was extended the invitation to be interviewed by Jack Canfield and to be included with other best selling authors in the upcoming Hollywood Live T.V. Show. This was filmed at the World famous Roosevelt Hotel, just 2 evenings following the Emmy’s after party which was a lot of fun to be around. What I loved about my interview was the ease of my interview with Jack and his friendly and supportive style. What impressed me even more was that my interview was one of only a few to be chosen for the Hollywood Live Show to be aired on syndicated television on CBS, BC, NBC and FOX
My interview with Jack Canfield was different. Even though there were many people in the space during the filming and recording, it was very intimate. Jack and I had met earlier this year at the World Leadership Forum, and even so, the event was very busy and we had not really had a chance to really talk. We signed books together there, but no time for a conversation. On this day, there was the time and the space with no nervousness in the air, but rather just a conversation between two people. Simple, relaxed and fun.
In each of these blog posts, I want to talk about the experience but also what you can learn from it. In today’s post, I want to share about interviews.
The only way to have a great interview is to prepare for it. One must do is to always have the questions ahead of time, so that you know what it is that you want to say and can do it confidently.
The second is to remember that this is a conversation. The best interviews are the ones where the person being interviewed is relaxed and enjoying it. If you get nervous the best thing you can do is focus in on the message that you want to convey. In this interview, Jack was asking me questions about my Lifestyle Wellness Center and how we help people holistically to have a better quality of life. My message is that you have choices when it comes to your health and well-being. You don’t always have to settle for what the doctors tell you. This is important, yet most times it is not everything and this is where complimentary and healthy alternatives can make a huge difference.
The whole experience was professional. The timing was perfect, the stylists, makeup crew and filming crew were great. I was prepared ahead of time and there were no surprises.
Jack was the epitome of professional yet friendly. He came prepared, was mild-mannered and very supportive in helping me share my vision and my message
I will never forget my interview with Jack. What I want you to walk away with is never be afraid to go for what you want. In my case, I did not have the idea in my mind about having an interview with Jack. This was a great experience that came from co-writing the book with him and other professionals. Success Starts Today is our bestselling book and that was something for all authors to celebrate. This experience gave me the opportunity to look at how I can help and connect with you and give you a way to connect with me to. This helps create more awareness, reach more people and get valuable information out there to you. It give visibility to the cause. I encourage you to accept interview opportunities and let it help people to find you.
